Zorba's Land Private Sunset Tour from Chania with Monastery Wine Tasting Experience
Here is what's in store for you
Take inspiration from Zorba the Greek and rejuvenate your passion for life on this captivating sunset tour and wine tasting escapade!
Much like the cinematic Zorba, we'll embrace the fullness of life as we venture into the scenic Akrotiri peninsula. Upon collecting you from your hotel, the journey unfolds through quaint villages and picturesque country lanes, revealing a landscape reminiscent of biblical tales — barren rocky terrain, wild olive trees, and meandering sheep. Your initial destination is the remarkable Moni Gouverneto or Monastery of Gouverneto, an ancient cliff-top monastery dating back to 1537, adorned with a charming Venetian-style facade and offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Following the appreciation of another awe-inspiring vista, this tour takes a short yet dramatic hike down a rocky paved path to Αrkoudospilios, aptly named the 'Bear Cave.' Fear not, as the only bear in this cave is a natural rock formation, yet the captivating myths and tales surrounding it may leave you questioning reality.
After immersing yourself in more incredible views, you will head to visit one of Greece's most wealthy and aesthetically pleasing monasteries, Agia Triada of Tzagarolon. Constructed in the 17th century, this 'Holy Trinity' monastery is renowned for its exceptional wines and olive oil, produced with a profound sense of responsibility and respect for the traditional economy and local ecology. Amidst the Renaissance architecture, you will engage in a tasting session guided by a dedicated sommelier, sampling 4 distinct organic wines. This exclusive tasting also features estate-produced olive oil, complemented by feta cheese, olives, and rusks. As the sun gracefully sets, you'll head to Stavros Beach, where Zorba once taught cinema audiences to dance. With a glass of raki in hand and delectable mezedes (local tapas) to relish, conclude your day in a manner he would have cherished —joyously intoxicated by life's simple pleasures.
