Valpolicella Classica Tasting with Light Lunch at Massaro Norma in Negrar
Here is what's in store for you
The Massaro family welcomes you personally to their winery in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica area.
Your visit is hosted by the owners, who share the story of their estate, rooted in the work of their grandfather Quirino who began farming these lands in 1900.
The experience begins with a walk through the vineyards. From there, you'll visit the drying room to see where the grapes for Amarone undergo the traditional `appassimento` process.
The tour continues into the cellar and barrel room, where you'll learn about the family's production methods and aging techniques. The final stop is the tasting room, which overlooks the surrounding vineyards.
Here you sit down to a guided tasting of three red wines, all from the estate's own grapes: the Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella blend of the appellation:
Valpolicella Classico DOC: the fresh, everyday red of these hills. Bright red‑cherry fruit and light tannin, easy to drink: the starting point that shows the territory without the weight.
Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC: often called a "baby Amarone." The young Valpolicella is re‑fermented (ripasso) on the skins left over from the Amarone, which gives it more body, a warmer texture and a note of dried fruit.
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG: the flagship. Made from the appassimento grapes you saw drying, it is dry but full and powerful, with raisined dark‑cherry fruit and a long finish after extended ageing in wood.
The wines are served with a light lunch, a platter of local cured meats and cheeses from Lessinia, such as Monte Veronese or Salame Veronese, accompanied by traditional taralli and breadsticks.

Humility and passion
I definitely recommend a visit to these small businesses that need our support to be able to best express their potential. His wines are excellent... especially the AMARONE... his wine... very balanced... with a good aroma... tenacious but at the same time pleasant and tasty.
Special
We were welcomed by the Massaro-Norma family who told the story of the winery with enthusiasm and engagement, and then began the tour directly in the vineyards. Here too, an engaging, complete, and useful story for those approaching the world of wine for the first time to technically understand the production process, right from the cultivation and harvesting of the grapes. A visit to the winery's cellar and a tasting of the company's three excellent wines followed, amidst chats and games to get to know and appreciate the wine. Very family-like atmosphere but excellent quality of the product and the experience.
To be done again, we were literally pampered.
Unforgettable experience
