Toledo & La Mancha Wine Tour from Madrid
Here is what's in store for you
We start the tour with free pick-up from a central location in Madrid, ensuring a comfortable beginning to your wine experience. Less than one hour from the hustle and bustle of the city, we arrive at Mirador del Valle, a stunning panoramic viewpoint of Toledo. From here, your guide will introduce the city before you enter the heart of the old town.
Together, you will walk through the Jewish Quarter, where the first stop is the Santa María la Blanca Synagogue—a remarkable 12th-century monument and one of the most unique synagogues in the world. As you explore the historic streets, you’ll find craft shops where tradition meets modernity. One highlight is Serrano, a renowned ceramic workshop in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, specializing in hand-decorated reproductions of ancient artistic ceramics reflecting Toledo’s traditional styles.
A visit to Toledo wouldn’t be complete without tasting its famous marzipan. You’ll stop at Santo Tomé, the city’s iconic bakery that has been producing traditional marzipan since 1856. Next, you’ll visit the Cathedral of Toledo, one of Spain’s most important religious landmarks. Your guide will provide an introduction, after which you’ll have time to explore it independently using a downloadable virtual guide.
Before leaving Toledo, you’ll witness a demonstration by a master artisan of damasquinado jewelry. Toledo is known for this Moorish art of inlaying gold or silver threads into black steel to create intricate patterns and costume jewelry.
A 40-minute drive then takes you to the famous windmills of La Mancha, forever linked to the story of Don Quixote. Your guide will share their history and explain how they work. You’ll even have the opportunity to go inside one of them.
For lunch, we’ve prepared a delicious five-course traditional meal in a one-of-a-kind restaurant built atop an ancient Roman circus and later transformed into a pottery house. This will likely be one of the most memorable meals of your time in Spain.
The tour ends with a visit to a local, family-run winery. Here, the owner will personally host your experience and introduce you to traditional winemaking methods passed down through generations. It’s the perfect way to close a day rich in culture, history, cuisine, and wine.
