Volcanic Wine Tasting and Km0 Lunch at Bosco de' Medici in Pompei
Here is what's in store for you
This food and wine experience takes place at Bosco de' Medici Winery, located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius and just a few steps from the ruins of Pompeii.
The day begins with a guided tour of the estate's vineyards and historic cellars. Here you will learn about the winery's philosophy and the unique terroir created by Vesuvius' volcanic soil, which gives life to some of Campania's most distinctive wines from rare, ungrafted vines. Following the tour, a sommelier will lead a guided tasting of 5 volcanic wines in a reserved outdoor area. You will learn about the production methods and tasting profiles behind each label. Depending on availability, the tasting may include estate wines such as Lacryma Christi Rosso DOC (Piedirosso and Aglianico), Lacryma Christi Bianco DOC (Caprettone and Falanghina), Pompeiano IGT Bianco from Caprettone, Pompeiano IGT Rosso from Piedirosso, and a sparkling Falanghina produced using the Charmat method.
The experience continues with the "Vesuvio Menu," a full meal made with ingredients grown on the estate. You will be served a traditional appetizer of local cured meats and cheeses with homemade bread and bruschetta, followed by a pasta dish with tomatoes from the slopes of Vesuvius. The meal concludes with a Neapolitan Babà with pastry cream, paired with homemade Limoncello.
