The Authentic Pico Island Tour: Wine Tasting, Independent Producers & Culture!
Here is what's in store for you
Embark on a unique wine tour intertwined with Pico's local communities we curate encounters and tastings you wouldn’t otherwise be able to live!
We meet in Madalena, to begin with a scenic walk through vineyards by the sea, at the foothills of Pico Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Experience the heroic Pico Wine, made from vineyards grown in man-made “currais” from lava soil, and none of this has changed in 500 years, since when the first settlers introduced grape growing in Pico.
To refresh our feet, we take you to one of our favorite natural swimming pools, in an amazing setting, where you can get on the water or just lay down for a bit, exchanging more local stories and preparing your appetite for the next stop where, depending on the weather we can be outdoors tasting local crabs, and other local delicacies or indoors with a more earthy local meal.
Conclude your journey with a wine tasting led by an awarded independent local producer, where you'll savor the flavors of Pico's unique volcanic wine. Explore the history and landscape of Pico while discovering how farming adapts to its challenging environment. We aim to create the bridge between you and local independent wine producers who are at the front line of this unique landscape and sustainable revolution while tasting low-intervention and limited editions of Pico Wine.
Join us and discover the history and the taste of a unique volcanic, mineral & salty wine, unique in the world while immersing in the local culture, people and… nature!

Where we are and how to reach us
Meeting Point : meet the group near the Ferry Boat terminal in Madalena Village, Pico Island. The exact meeting point is a small statue of Gilberto Mariano da Silva. As a reference, just in front, you will find a small water sports shop, in blue turquoise, named CW Azores. We will meet, across the street right in front of CW Azores where you will find the statue. It’s a very central area so you will not have any problem finding it!
