Siena, San Gimignano & Pisa Tour with Chianti Lunch & Tasting from Florence
Here is what's in store for you
Your day tour begins in Florence, traveling through the Tuscan countryside to Siena, a medieval city and UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon arrival, you'll visit the famous Piazza del Campo, shaped like a shell, home to the Palazzo Comunale and the Torre del Mangia. You will have free time to explore the city's narrow streets and visit its magnificent Cathedral.
From Siena, a panoramic road leads you through the vineyards and olive groves of the Chianti region to the fortified hamlet of Monteriggioni, a 13th-century walled town. A short drive away, you'll stop at a country estate for lunch. Here, you will enjoy a guided tasting of the estate's wines and extra virgin olive oil. The tasting includes three local wines: a white Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a Chianti red, and a Supertuscan. Lunch features a platter of cured meats and cheeses (such as prosciutto, finocchiona, salame, and pecorino), Tuscan crostini, pickled vegetables, bruschetta, and a pasta course with a choice of tomato, ragù, or pesto sauce. The meal concludes with gelato, biscotti, and a glass of Vinsanto or Limoncello.
The tour continues to San Gimignano, another UNESCO site known for its medieval towers, which earned it the nickname "Manhattan of the Middle Ages." You can stroll through the town center to see Piazza della Cisterna, the Dome, and the Church of Sant' Agostino.
The final stop is Pisa and its Piazza dei Miracoli, or Square of Miracles, also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you will see the city's most famous landmarks: the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery, the Cathedral, and the Monumental Graveyard, all examples of Romanesque architecture. At the end of the visit, you will return to Florence.
