Pisa, San Gimignano, Chianti & Siena Tour from Florence with Lunch & Wine Pairing
Here is what's in store for you
Your day exploring Tuscany begins with a 75-minute drive from Florence to Pisa. Here, you'll step into the Field of Miracles, a wide green lawn that is home to the city's Cathedral, Baptistery, and the Leaning Tower, all examples of Pisan-Romanesque architecture.
Next, you'll travel for about 90 minutes through the countryside to a location near San Gimignano for a traditional Tuscan lunch with wine pairings. From April to October, lunch is served at a restaurant in San Gimignano owned by a winery. From November to March, it takes place at a family-run winery in the Sienese Chianti area. The meal is a three-course menu featuring local specialties, paired with three red wines from the region: a Chianti, a Chianti Riserva, and a Supertuscan. A sample menu might include cured meats (examples include prosciutto, finocchiona, and salami), bruschetta, and pecorino cheese, followed by penne with meat ragù and a jam tart for dessert.
After lunch, you'll have free time to explore San Gimignano, a medieval town known for its tall, narrow towers that create a unique skyline. The final stop, a 30-minute drive away, is Siena. You can explore its historic center on your own or choose the option for a guided walking tour that takes you through medieval streets, past the world's oldest bank in Piazza del Campo, and to the city's Cathedral.
