Small group Champagne Day Tour: Reims, Hautvillers, Epernay, Two Family Growers with Lunch
Here is what's in store for you
Your day begins with a pick-up at the Reims Centre Train Station forecourt at 09:20 AM. Your first stop is one of more than 4,000 family champagne houses contributing to the prestige of Champagne and maintaining the tradition from generation to generation, for one aim: the true expression of Champagne. Visit the cellars and taste several cuvées of the house. Next, you'll enjoy a ride through the lively streets of Reims, showcasing famous Champagne Houses, the captivating City Center, and its awe-inspiring Cathedral. Marvel at landmarks such as the Royal Square, majestic City Hall, Roman Oratory Ruins, and the widest-standing Roman Arch in the world. Notre-Dame de Reims, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a monumental Gothic structure of great historical significance.
You will then make your way to Epernay, making a stop at the picturesque Marne River Valley. Take a moment to pause amidst the picture-perfect vineyards before paying homage to Dom Pérignon, the Spiritual Father of Champagne, buried in the church of the former Benedictine Abbey in the charming hillside village of Hautvillers. Afterward, you'll descend the meticulously manicured slopes and head to Epernay, where you'll enjoy a convivial lunch at a local restaurant including a starter, a main course, a glass of Champagne and a coffee.
Situated in the vibrant heart of Epernay, known as the "Capital of Champagne," the stunning main street showcases a half-mile exhibition of opulent mansions housing some of the most illustrious Champagne Houses, including Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouet, Pol Roger, and Mercier. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the miles of naturally climate-controlled champagne production and storage tunnels located deep beneath the pavement. Before returning to Reims, you'll visit another family champagne house for a tour and tasting.
Drop-off is at approximately 5:45 PM at the Reims Central Train Station forecourt (may change according to the traffic), leaving you with cherished memories of an unforgettable Champagne adventure.

Informative
If possible, time and distance permitting, would be interesting to drop by a village to visit the commercial area. We didn’t however notice any concentration of human activities anywhere.
