The Deluxe Vineyard Picnic at SAIO Assisi is the perfect wine experience to combine an itinerary to visit Assisi with the food and wine goodness it has to offer.

Your wine experience will begin with a guided wine tasting to allow you to choose your favorite wine to enjoy during your picnic. A map of the vineyard trekking route will be handed out with informative bulletin boards about the local wine and viticulture. The trail is truly scenic with exclusive views of Assisi, Perugia, and Santa Maria degli Angeli and is suitable for all ages. You will have the entire vineyard of SAIO Assisi at your disposal.

The picnic takes place in the vineyard in front of a unique view of Assisi, with the Basilica of St. Francis just 800 meters away. Your picnic lunch includes 1 bottle of your choice of Colderba, Colle Asio, Campo delle Grazie, or Eremo wine to enjoy paired with delicious local products including Typical Umbrian bread, SAIO extra virgin olive oil, Artisanal Pecorino cheese of medium seasoning accompanied by grape jam, Artisanal Caciotta cheese with black summer truffle, Artisanal Torta al testo, Artisanal typical Umbrian cold cuts, Porchetta di Costano, a Traditional Umbrian dessert, and mineral water. A variation of the menu for celiacs and vegetarians is available on request.

A truly high-level tasting!!!

The place is very beautiful, everyone is super kind, the tasting with high-level wines, all explained in detail and accompanied by bruschetta. Afterwards there is the possibility to take a walk in the vineyard, and then we enjoyed lunch under a veranda with a breathtaking view of Assisi. Absolutely recommended!!!!!!

Picnic in the vineyard

An experience to definitely do again, even in the evening. From the wine presentation, to the picnic brought directly to the veranda, everything was perfect, among vineyards, fields of daisies, sun and Assisi as the panorama. Beautiful!

Nice experience, shame about the rain

Due to the bad weather, the experience initially scheduled for 11:00 AM was postponed to 12:00 PM, as it was not possible to do the vineyard tour (no refund or complimentary gift was offered to "apologize" even though it was obviously not their fault). The indoor activity was pleasant and the picnic food was abundant and delicious. I was a bit perplexed by the management of the people present: I had booked the deluxe picnic experience but there were also people in the room who had chosen a simpler tasting package, given that at a certain point they brought us the Costano porchetta and not to others. At the end of the picnic, I pointed out that we were entitled to a free bottle of wine, which was brought to us after some initial hesitation from the staff. So I didn't quite understand if they had remembered or not that the people present had paid different fees to be there. Otherwise, everything was pleasant.
Create different itineraries (and schedules) for those who paid for the deluxe picnic and those who chose other packages.

An authentic and unforgettable experience among the vineyards of Assisi

Our experience at Saio Assisi was simply wonderful. Agnese, one of the owners, welcomed us with kindness and professionalism, guiding us through an engaging tasting rich with explanations about the wines and the history of the winery. Every glass truly told a part of the territory's story: the aromas and flavors described by Agnese were clearly found in every sip.
The walk through the vineyards was evocative and relaxing, an opportunity to appreciate nature and the great work that goes into every bottle. To top it all off, the picnic was abundant and delicious, with foods perfectly paired with the wine chosen after the tasting.
The atmosphere, the spectacular view of Assisi, and the authenticity of this family-run business made the day unforgettable. An experience we recommend to anyone who loves good wine and wants to experience a moment of true passion and attention to detail.
Keep it up: the tasting + walk + picnic formula is perfect. It might also be nice to offer a short cellar tour to complete the experience.
