Tuscany Wine Tour with Lunch from Florence: Chianti Classico, Montalcino & Montepulciano
Here is what's in store for you
Your day trip into the heart of Tuscany begins with a drive from Florence into the Chianti region.
Through hills lined with old vineyards and olive groves, your driver will take you to your first stop at a local Chianti farm for a tasting of two local wines, including Chianti Classico and Riserva labels, extra virgin olive oil on Tuscan bread, and Vin Santo with traditional "cantuccini" biscuits and lavender honey.
Next, you'll travel along a panoramic road, passing the medieval walled village of Monteriggioni and crossing the clay hills of the Crete Senesi. The route continues into the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of cypress-dotted hills, castles, and ancient farms. Here, at a historic estate, you'll have a guided lunch. The menu, prepared by a local chef, features homemade traditional pasta like ragù with wild boar, cured meats and cheeses from local organic farms (prosciutto, finocchiona, salame, and pecorino), vegetables from the property's biodynamic garden, and delicious homemade fruit pie. The meal is paired with five wines, including an IGT rosé, a Montalcino red, and three different Brunellos. After lunch, you'll visit the cellars and enjoy some leisure time in nature.
The tour continues to the medieval village of Montalcino, where you’ll have free time to explore its historic fortress, narrow streets, and artisan shops. Your final destination is Montepulciano, a Renaissance hilltop town overlooking the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana. Here, you can stroll through its steep streets and elegant squares before returning to Florence.
