Châteauneuf-du-Pape Wine Tasting Tour from Marseille
Here is what's in store for you
Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wines are often described as earthy, with gamey flavors and hints of tar and leather. They exhibit distinctive aromas of dried herbs, known in Provence as garrigue. As the most famous Southern Rhône appellation, Châteauneuf-du-Pape represents the finest expression of the Grenache grape and Grenache-based blends.
Grenache, often referred to as the “King of the Rhône,” is the dominant grape in local wine production. The appellation permits 13 different grape varieties, though Grenache remains the primary base in most blends. The resulting wines are elegant and complex, featuring flavors of black fruits, red cherries, wild herbs, sweet spices, and pepper. The rich and layered blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache gives these wines their unique depth and character.
The tour includes a comprehensive visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, featuring an exploration of the village, insights into its history and terroir, and visits to renowned wineries. The experience typically includes visits to 2 to 3 wineries, with 6 to 8 wine tastings in total.
