Bodegas Ismael Arroyo-ValSotillo: Visit to a 16th-Century Underground Cellar in Ribera del Duero
Here is what's in store for you
Discover the heritage of Bodegas Valsotillo, a family-run winery and one of the founding members of the Ribera del Duero D.O., where winemaking has been passed down for generations—even before the official designation was established.
Your guided experience begins with a walk through the vineyard adjacent to the winery, where the family shares their sustainable viticulture practices (weather permitting). You'll then descend into the winery’s 16th-century underground cellar, hand-carved in stone and still in use today to age Valsotillo wines. This space, with a consistent natural temperature of 12ºC, offers a perfect atmosphere for aging and a glimpse into the deep history of winemaking in Sotillo de la Ribera.
The tour concludes with a guided tasting of Valsotillo wines, with different options available to suit your preferences.
A wine shop is available at the end of the tour for those who wish to take home a bottle of this legacy.
