Private Blind Tasting & Aroma Workshop at Quinta de S. Sebastião in Arruda dos Vinhos

Your private visit to Quinta de S. Sebastião begins with a tour led by a wine expert, trained by either WSET or the Portuguese Sommelier Association. You will explore the entire estate, from the vineyards and modern winery to a historic wine cellar. The tour also includes a visit to an 18th-century chapel and the horse riding arena, where your guide will share the history of the property, which dates back to before 1755.

The experience continues in the tasting room of the Old Winery for a hands-on workshop. You'll test your senses by tasting from black glasses, so color can't influence your judgment, and by identifying scents from a set of aroma vials. It’s a practical way to learn how to recognize grape varieties, the influence of terroir, and the effects of aging on wine.

The guided tasting includes three IG Lisboa wines from the S. Sebastião range, chosen according to the season.  A typical set spans the estate's white and red styles, along these lines:

S. Sebastião Arinto: a white made from Arinto, IG Lisboa. 
S. Sebastião Tinto:  a red, IG Lisboa. A regional Lisboa red built around approachable fruit and easy, everyday structure
S. Sebastião Reserva: the range's reserva, IG Lisboa; a red drawn from the estate's better parcels and given more time before release.

To accompany the wines, you will be served a platter of local products, including goat and sheep cheeses, Iberian black pork cured meats, and regional bread with pumpkin jam and dried fruits.

For children aged 5 to 17, grape juice is served with the food pairing.
