Biodynamic Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting at Domaine Simonis
Here is what's in store for you
Domaine Étienne Simonis has been growing vines in Ammerschwihr, in the heart of the Alsace Wine Route, since the 17th century — fourteen generations rooted in the same land. We have been practising biodynamics since 1999, are certified Demeter, and this philosophy shapes everything you will experience during the visit.
The tour begins in the vineyard, where you discover what makes this landscape unique: the Vosges mountains to the west, the Rhine to the east, and between them a mosaic of soils — granite, clay, limestone — each giving the wine a different character. We walk through our parcels, explain how we care for the soil, follow the rhythms of the seasons and the planets, and why this matters in the glass.
You then descend into the cellar, where the wines rest and evolve with no intervention — indigenous yeasts, no corrections, nothing added or removed. The visit ends with a guided tasting of 5 wines from the estate: a Crémant d'Alsace and a selection of whites including Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer. We guide you through colour, nose, and palate. A genuine encounter with Alsace wine, from vine to glass.
