You’ll visit Nicolau de Almeda, a working cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia, free of tourist trappings, and be welcomed in a warm, family atmosphere by the Nicolau de Almeida team.
The experience begins with an introduction to our history, followed by an overview of our work in the vineyards at Quinta do Monte Xisto, our winemaking and ageing processes. It concludes with a tasting of 5 wines – 2 DOC Douro reds, 2 DOC Ports, and 1 white from the Minho – accompanied by our own olive oil and almonds from the estate.

Amazing tour and tasting
Amazing wine tour and tasting. If you're in Porto, you do not want to miss this family's wine house. Especially as they have an excellent selection of dry wines (so not port, although of course they also make port). Everything is still operated locally, by the family. You get to see the wine making spaces, the cellars, the history of the Almeida family and of course you get te try their amazing wines. These wines are the best way to get to know the Douro wines, great blends with traditional local grapes. Furthermore the friendliness of Tiago was something that made the experience even better. He even invited us to come watch the botteling process, which was taking place the day after we visited. Please, also don't forget to try the almonds, olives and olive oil, and enjoy!
