Loire Valley Full-Day Tour from Tours: Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau & Vouvray Wineries
Here is what's in store for you
Make the most of your holidays in the Loire Valley with this full-day experience departing from Tours. Meet your friendly local guide at 9:30 AM in front of the Tourist Office and hop into the minivan to begin your journey.
As you travel through the picturesque region, enjoy scenic views of the Cher and Indre rivers and the charming villages that line their banks. Your guide will share insights into the rich history and heritage of the Loire Valley along the way.
Your first stop is the Château of Azay-le-Rideau, a stunning example of Renaissance architecture. Famous for its straight staircase, one of the first of its kind in the region, it reflects beautifully on the waters of the Indre River. After a peaceful stroll through its elegant park, you'll continue to the Château de Villandry. This Renaissance treasure is renowned for its spectacular French gardens.
Around lunchtime, your guide will recommend local bakeries or cafés where you can grab a bite to eat on your own. After this break, the afternoon is dedicated to wine. Your first tasting will take place in the Amboise wine area, where you’ll explore the diversity of Loire wines – white, rosé, red, and sparkling – produced in this part of the valley. Then it’s off to Vouvray, a region famous for its Chenin Blanc wines. Here, you'll visit a charming family-run estate, meet the winemaker, and step into a traditional vat room. Learn all about the winemaking process and the versatility of Chenin Blanc, which produces dry, sweet, and sparkling wines.
Throughout the afternoon, your guide will help you sharpen your tasting skills. From identifying aromas to understanding balance and structure, you'll come away with a deeper appreciation for the wines of the Loire Valley. The tour concludes at 6:30 PM back at the Tourist Office in Tours, full of unforgettable memories and new knowledge.
