Your half-day tour into the Chianti region begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Florence, where you'll meet your guide, a certified sommelier, for the day. They will introduce you to the territory, its winemaking traditions, and its most representative wines as you travel.
The tour includes visits to two different wineries, such as Castello di Poppiano and Azienda Agricola Casa di Monte, though the specific estates may change depending on availability. At each stop, you'll explore the vineyards and cellars, learning about the processes of wine production and aging. The tastings, which may take place on a terrace or in a dedicated tasting room, will feature a total of 8 wines across both locations. You will sample styles including young Chianti, Chianti Riserva, Chianti Gran Selezione, and Super Tuscan wines, while your guide explains tasting techniques to help you recognize different styles.
At one of the wineries, you will be served a traditional three-course Tuscan lunch. The seasonal menu typically starts with an appetizer of local cheeses, Prosciutto, and Pappa al Pomodoro, followed by a fresh pasta course and a classic dessert. The experience is open to all ages; underaged guests are offered soft drinks instead of wines.
After an immersive introduction to the food and wine of Chianti, your guide will accompany you on the return trip to Florence.
