Granada Tapas & Local Bars Food Tour
Here is what's in store for you
In Granada, tapas are much more than food – they are a way of life. Locals love to gather with friends, moving from bar to bar to share small plates, drinks, and conversation. This tradition, known as picoteo, is at the heart of the city’s social life.
On this guided tapas tour, you’ll experience Granada like a local while discovering some of the city’s most authentic bars and hidden spots. Accompanied by a friendly local guide, you’ll explore lively neighborhoods and enjoy a vibrant evening sampling traditional flavors alongside fellow food lovers.
Each tapa tells a story about Granada’s rich cultural heritage. Influences from Moorish, Spanish, and Mediterranean traditions have shaped the city’s cuisine over centuries, creating dishes that often blend savory and sweet flavors in unique ways.
During the tour, you’ll visit several carefully selected venues where locals regularly gather. You’ll taste classic regional specialties such as Jamón de Trevélez, a prized cured ham from the nearby Alpujarra mountains, Pipirrana salad, and Tortilla del Sacromonte, among other traditional dishes.
On weekdays, the experience may include a stop at a traditional local shop where you can learn about cutting cured ham and sample excellent regional cheeses. You’ll also visit lively bars popular with students and residents, where you can enjoy drinks such as vermouth paired with delicious tapas.
One of the stops takes you to a family-run tapas bar that has been operating for four generations, a true hidden gem of the city. To conclude the evening, you’ll experience one of Granada’s beloved teterías (tea houses) with beautiful views of the Alhambra. In cooler months, the tour may finish in a cozy wine bar where you can enjoy a dessert and warm atmosphere.
