Beer Tasting Tour of Ghent
Here is what's in store for you
Right after booking, you’ll receive our home-made leaflet with BeerSecret’s favourite places in Ghent — so you can already explore the city like a local before you even arrive. During the tour itself, you’ll receive an 8-page tasting leaflet featuring carefully selected 5-star-rated beers, fun facts, and tasting tips.
We kick things off at a lively local brewery, where you’ll enjoy a classic Belgian Blonde. Your guide breaks down the brewing process in a clear, engaging way — expect a real aha-experience as flavors and aromas suddenly make sense. Don’t overlook this: every beer on the tour comes with a food pairing. Yes… including a delicious tasting chocolate.
While walking between stops, we explore Ghent itself. You’ll discover remarkable places you’d likely never find on your own, hear local stories, and of course pause for group photos along the way.
Next, we step into an iconic, centuries-old bar run by a legendary local figure. Here, you’ll taste traditional Ghent jenever — the spirit that predates gin and shaped café culture. Learn why it was once safer than water and how locals still enjoy it today.
Then it’s time for a true beer lover’s paradise: a legendary bar boasting over 300 Belgian beers. You’ll be surprised with two special local beer styles, enhanced with the famous “Noses of Ghent” — a combo even most locals never try without guidance. Along the way, your passionate guide shares stories ranging from copper coolships to the legend of the Ghent dragon.
We continue in a cosy, hidden bar that feels like your grandmother’s living room. Here, you’ll compare a young and a vintage Trappist beer side by side, discovering how beer ages and uncovering monastery brewing secrets. For many guests, this tasting completely changes how they see beer.
The tour ends in a warm, tucked-away local bar — a true hidden gem. Enjoy a full-bodied Belgian Tripel paired with a local sweet delicacy, followed by the most fun beer quiz ever, personalised recommendations, and insider tips for Ghent, Brussels, and Bruges.
