Farmer's Table Lunch & Wine Tasting at Morgado do Quintão in the Algarve
Here is what's in store for you
At Morgado do Quintão, a seat is waiting for you at the Farmer's Table, the estate's daily long-table lunch.
Depending on the weather, you will gather with other visitors under a 2,000-year-old olive tree facing the old Negra Mole vines, inside the historic olive press, or in the main house's tasting room.
The experience is built around a relaxed three-course meal, paired with three of the estate's wines. The kitchen follows the seasons, creating a menu rooted in traditional Portuguese and Algarve cooking. The dishes change based on what is fresh from the local market, from Atlantic seafood and charcoal-grilled fish to a classic cataplana, local pork, or desserts made with the region's almonds and figs.
The three wines are all grown and made on the property. You will start with a white from Crato Branco, a native Algarve grape, usually paired with a seafood appetizer.
A light rosé follows, served with the main course.
You will finish with a red made from Negra Mole, the grape from the old vines in front of you, paired with final product, generally a dessert.
The estate's farming is low-intervention and organic, producing wines that reflect the land. After lunch, you can linger over coffee or take a walk through the property with the resident vineyard manager. They will share the story of this landmark estate, family-owned since the 1800s and a pioneer in reviving the Algarve's native grape varieties.
