Discover Sugarcane distillation & Rum tasting at Distilleria Alma in Modica
Here is what's in store for you
Distilleria Alma is the first distillery dedicated to Rum production in Italy, and one of the very few currently active in Sicily. We are farmers, artisans, and distillers. With this experience, we open our doors to make you discover the processes of Agricultural Rum production.
At Alma Distillery, we produce in small batches and follow the entire process; from the countryside to the glass. This means that we grow our raw material, sugarcane, and press it in the distillery to extract the juice that will become must, then ferment, distill, and bottle it on site.
The experience begins with a brief introduction to sugarcane cultivation in Sicily and its cultivation process. Next, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the distillery and an explanation of the different production processes; pressing, fermentation, distillation, refining, and aging. You will also have the opportunity to taste our fresh sugar cane juice.
The tour concludes with a guided tasting of a selection of 5 of our products, paired with chocolate from Modica:
