Christmas Market and Wine Tour to Riquewihr from Colmar or Basel
Here is what's in store for you
The charm of the Alsatian Christmas markets lies in their beautiful settings, remarkable medieval architecture, numerous old houses, and winding cobbled alleyways, which have been preserved for centuries. The historic streets and houses are adorned with sparkling illuminations, decorated façades, and beautiful landmarks within ancient fortifications. These romantic medieval villages will enchant, captivate, and bewitch you.
On this wonderful festive tour, you will visit two family-owned wineries dating back to the 16th century, where you will taste between 6 and 8 wines. Riesling is the king of Alsace, but you will also sample Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and many others.
The tour begins with pickup from your accommodation in either Colmar or Basel. You will then travel to the picturesque village of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in Alsace. Here, you will enjoy a short tour through its historic streets, admiring the old architecture and taking in the sights, scents, and sounds of this wonderful village.
You will then enjoy a wine tasting at one of these ancient family-owned wineries. World-renowned and critically acclaimed, this winery has received numerous awards throughout its long history, and here you will have the chance to sample many of its remarkable wines.
Afterward, you will have lunch, which is not included in the tour price, followed by some free time to explore the Christmas market at your leisure.
You will then travel to the second wine tasting of the day in another village, just a short drive from Riquewihr. Here, you will taste wines made using organic and biodynamic methods. The family’s history goes back several generations, and their wines are of exceptional quality, expressing the rich terroir of Alsace.
