Wine Tasting Experience at Cantina del Tufaio in the heart of the Roman countryside

For this experience, you will be welcomed at Cantina del Tufaio, a charming family-run winery in the heart of Rome’s countryside.

Nicoletta will welcome you and introduce you to the history of the winery and her family, who have been wine producers for 6 generations, and provide you with some context and an introduction to the territory. You will learn that 70/100 years ago the concept of wine for Roman customers was totally different! Cantina del Tufaio’s history dates back to 1881. Nicoletta’s parents started to produce quality wine in 1994 and they specialized in traditional method sparkling wine.

You will also get a chance to walk into the vineyard, where Nicoletta will explain to you the productive cycle of the vine.

Then, you will have the opportunity to visit Cantina del Tufaio’s unique and suggestive wine cellar cave that has been dug in 1881 and is 17 meters deep in the “tuff rocks”. This is where the winery refines their Sparkling wine — Spumante metodo classico because the temperature is perfect for fermenting in the bottle: 12° degrees, stable! 

Afterward, you will taste three types of wine (the winery’s exclusive sparkling wine made by the same method as Champagne, a regular white wine, and a regular red wine). Nicoletta will teach you how to approach the wine using a fun evaluation method based on your senses: sight, smell, and taste. The wines will be accompanied by a selection of local cheese and cold cuts and bread with olive oil.
