Santa Pola Tapas & Culture Tour – Discover a Charming Fishing Village
Here is what's in store for you
Embark on a delightful walking tour through the charming coastal town of Santa Pola, where local flavours, history, and Mediterranean culture come together. The experience begins at the Port of Santa Pola, where your guide will greet you beside the emblematic fishing boat Barco Esteban González and introduce you to the town’s deep maritime traditions.
You’ll visit the historic Aquarium of Santa Pola, the oldest in the Valencian Community, to learn about local marine species and the fishing heritage that defines the area. As you stroll toward the town centre, you’ll pass by the 16th-century Castle-Fortress, a symbol of the town’s defence against pirate attacks, and continue to the lively Central Market, where you’ll discover the region’s culinary traditions by tasting salazones — traditional salted fish such as mojama (cured tuna) and hueva (cured roe), served with water.
Your culinary journey continues through a selection of local restaurants where you’ll savour four authentic tapas paired with drinks. Enjoy a traditional black rice dish, an octopus salad from the bay, and portside seafood specialities like hake zeppelins and fried gamusin, each served with your choice of local white wine, beer, or soft drink. The experience concludes in a lively local bar with fresh Santa Pola prawns accompanied by red or white wine, beer, soft drinks, or a local liqueur as a digestif.
Guided by a passionate local expert, this tour offers the perfect blend of gastronomy, culture, and coastal charm, allowing you to taste and experience the true essence of Santa Pola.
