Here is what's in store for you
Start your day with us on a fascinating journey from Bilbao to the heart of La Rioja, the most famous wine region in Spain, where you will be amazed by the breathtaking views of a sea of vineyards that stretches as far as the eye can see. Along the way, we invite you to discover picturesque villages and the rich wine history of the area, with numerous wineries that will accompany us on this unique tour. Our first stop will be a unique winery of spectacular vineyards, a place full of charm and character, where you will immerse yourself in the process of making wine. And of course, you will enjoy an exquisite tasting of its best wines, directly from the lands that make this wine a real treasure. We will continue our trip with a visit to a place of character, a traditional winery, excavated under the streets of the village, that offers us a unique experience where you will see the process of traditional wine making. You will also enjoy an exquisite tasting of its best wines, directly in the cellars that make this wine a real gem. Finally, we will visit Laguardia, an authentic medieval enclave. This charming walled town in the Rioja Alavesa, whose roots date back centuries, preserves one of the most impressive architectural ensembles in the region. In this tour, you will move to medieval times as you walk through its narrow streets, surrounded by ancient buildings, coats of arms, and porches that tell stories of yesteryear. An immersive excursion
The guide, with a very pleasant vitality and energy, led and accompanied us to two different types of wineries (one that uses more traditional methodologies and another more industrial one) and to see Laguardia, an emblematic town in the area. It caught my attention to what extent the houses in the towns are linked to wine, with many of them having an underground cave that was the winery for each of them.
The landscapes in the month of February are not spectacular, but we were able to enjoy the beginning of the almond blossom, which has been integrated into the biodiversity (at Bodegas Emperatriz) to work as a whole to produce good grapes.
The delicious moment when you enter the winery and they serve you a glass of wine is wonderful.
I recommend enjoying this experience.
